Unlikely heroes ...

... Noel Edmonds!

As somebody who believes that while the tax burden could and should be reduced generally (around 20% of gummint spending is pure waste - quangocracy etc) it is the tax burden on the poorest that should be reduced most of all - the TV licence fee is a crude Poll Tax (which adds 10% to the average Council Tax bill), and as it relates to property ownership/occupation, should be rolled into Land Value Tax.

No way!

Entertainment should be funded by subscription, not conscription.

Anticitizenone: "No way"

I agree, let the BBC stand on its own feet on its own merit. If it is so f'ing wonderful then they should not have any qualms about moving to a voluntary subscription based service.

Sure, step two is to scrap state funding to the Beeb.

Its amazing how vexed we get at the BBC. Poor lambs. Yet, doing return today, I found "parking charges" came nearly double the licence fee.

Either TV is too cheap or parking is to expensive.

I'm not vexed at the Beeb. Well, I am, but at least they irritate all of the people most of the time. What I don't like is the TV Poll Tax.
