Bo Diddley RIP

I saw Bo Diddley play live in a pub in Leeds in the early 1980s. Best concert I ever saw, the man was an absolute genius.

Yes very sad indeed. "Who do you love?" must be one of three best R'n'b tracks of all time.Even the lyrics are amazing. For somebody of my era finding a Bo Diddley record on not-kept-up-to-date jukebox was a significant event.Like alot of much mourned deaths it makes you remember when you too were at your best ,at your most alive, which is appalling.
I was surpised to read in his Guardian obit that his name was really Otha Bates (not sure about this/can't believe it).

The genius of 'Who do you love' (apart from the lyrics) is, it's just one chord all the way through (like most of Bo Diddley's songs, to be fair).

That's why there are so many cover versions. All of which are pretty good. It's the kind of song that not even Jesus & Mary Chain could mess up.

FWIW I like "Bo Diddley" (the song) best, but hey.
