Were any estate agents warning of "unsustainable" house prices last summer!?!
Strangely enough, the RICS only suggested a 10% chance of a house price fall!
Some areas may have seen a 15% decline, but I suspect they are the sorts of areas where prices are incredibly high anyway. A relative who is a mortgage advisor told me that a client recently had to drop their asking price from £740K to £700K to get the sale, but being realistic that is the higher end of the market where there is far more price inflation to trim back. At the lower end of the market the falls are in the region of £5K on properties between £150K-£300K. Not a crash in the true sense of the word.
