Tony Singh, we salute you for your quick thinking, courage and combat skills*! And WTF are the forces of law'n'order playing at - releasing an armed robber on bail and then threatening to charge Mr Singh with murder? Give him a f***ing knighthood more like!
Tony - you rock!
* Both unarmed and armed, obviously.

Absolutely spot on Mark. Thanks for bringing cases like this to our attention, the lunatics really have taken over the asylum.
Every report I've seen of this story says that the Criminal Protection Service are only thinking of charging the shopkeeper with murder.
It will be interesting to see if the buffoons actually bring a murder charge or not. I suspect that they might back down, although rather than dropping all charges they are stupid and spiteful enough to go for what they would see as a compromise like manslaughter.
If my fear is true, then I will certainly campaign for a not guilty verdict.
You say 'thinking', I say 'threatening'. Either way Mr Singh's must be going through Hell.
Good on Mr Singh!
From the reports I would be amazed if any charges are brought. I think however it is right to investigate these things however clear cut they initially appear. It is sad to see any death but as you suggest this guy brought it on himself, well done to Mr Singh for defending himself.
I suggest that we make it the duty of shopkeepers to kill anyone who tries to rob them.
Golly! Neil and I agree almost word for word (although I have somewhat less sympathy for the deceased). A genuinely pleasant first, methinks.
Of course in my usual hamfisted way I'll now go and blow all this bonhomie by asking Dearieme why he thinks it should be only shopkeepers charged with his emminently sensible suggestion. But while it lasted that was a moment to remember.
Good on him, but it is also appropriate that the police find out what happened. Seems to me that if you kill somebody, it's probably not a bad idea to say to the CPS "did this guy commit murder?" and in cases like this have them come back pronto and say "of course not".
I believe in an absolute right to self-defence, but I don't think it is anybody's duty to kill people who try to rob them. In fact, in many cases it would be monumentally stupid or impossible. Suppose I am a shopkeeper and i am knocked over the back of the head unsuspectingly and robbed, would it then be my duty to hunt down the man who did it and murder him? What if someone is pointing a gun at my face and I don't have a gun, is it my duty to get myself killed trying to kill the guy robbing me?
In any case, if people want to allow themselves to be robbed or to stop their attackers in ways other than killing them then that's their business.
And I just have to add: probably a good idea if people don't have to rely on their attackers accidentally stabbing themselves with their own weapons...
First we start with the shopkeepers, and I'll say nothing because I am not a shopkeeper. Then we'll all do it, hurray!
