Too many candles cause a "firestorm" effect where the candles disappear in seconds in a huge conflagration. I speak from experience after my grandfather's 80th.
FT, "LV" is my age in Latin numerals. So I thought I'd go with the theme and asked Google Translate for the Latin word for "today". There were several possible words and I chose the shortest.
Ah, thank you for explaining. I'd run through every Liverpool Victoria possibility I could think of (even green salad veg / green LV branding), mentally reviewed those of their irritating TV ads I could recall, wondered if the "V" was for Vegan (given the table) and if so where that took me. "Hodie" in Google gave me pages of da yoof garments, innit. Clearly, not a Game of Thrones "Hodor" reference. But Latin, that's obscure... I'm just a simple grammar school boy of half a century ago, not a large blond muppet with a Classics degree :-)
FT, yes "LV" was in itself misleading (Liverpool Victoria) so I did the next word in Latin as a clue. I didn't do it at school either, it's not like I'm ever going to go to a country where they still speak it.

No cake with LV candles?

Uh huh.
AKH, that was at the end.
B, we use a sensible number of candles.
JH, yup.
MW, sorry to reveal my ignorance yet again but Google has been unable to help. What is LV hodie?
The table setting looks very virtuous..... enough to save the planet all on its own.

Re table setting - we had vegan guests.
