"Bradford Batman's identity unveiled"

A mystery figure who dressed as Batman and handed a wanted man in at a police station has been unmasked.

Bruce Wayne, 39, said he accompanied his arch-enemy The Joker in Bradford while dressed as the caped crusader because of a deep-rooted insecurity complex. The industrialist said he was "gobsmacked" when his exploits were covered by worldwide media on Monday.

Mr Wayne and his nemesis Mr T Joker, 27, walked into Trafalgar House Police Station in the early hours of 25 February. Mr Joker, of Queen Street, Buttershaw, had been wanted in connection with a number of bank raids, kidnappings and murders. He was later charged with handling stolen nuclear weapons and fraud-related offences and will appear before magistrates on Friday, once they've Googled his real name.

Mr Wayne said he agreed to go with his mortal enemy to the station after he had been to London for Bradford City's Capital One Cup Final clash with Swansea, after which the caped crusader and arch villain decided to stage an epic battle on top of a very tall building. Probably Tower 42 because that looks the coolest and has a flat roof. They did the bit where you think that one of them has fallen down to the street below but he hasn't really, he's clinging on to the parapet and then reappears suddenly. He had donned the Batman costume for the battle to the death and decided not to get changed.

He told ITV's Daybreak: "Obviously it was done as part of my crusade against crime. He (Mr Joker) wanted to work his way through the whole rigamorale and end up uttering the line "Really, we're the same, you and me..." but obviously I wanted my bed. It was half-one in the morning, and I had a business proposal to read before a ten o'clock meeting. In the middle of the night, it was his last practical joke, just between me and T."

He said he was annoyed that his paunch looked big when he saw pictures of him in the Batman suit. Mr Wayne, who is from the Wayne Towers area of Gotham City, said: "I've got my full tracksuit underneath. I'm not just wearing this [the costume] - it's too thin."

'The Dark Knight Rises' star Anne Hathaway has labelled Friday's massacre at a Colorado screening of the Batman film 'a fair response to a film glorifying violence' as she joins a growing list of cast and crew publicly concealing their glee at the amount of publicity for the film the incident generated.

'My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this mildly senseless act,' the actress, who plays Catwoman in the film, told ETonline today. 'I am at a loss how to express my sorrow with this big grin on my face. My thoughts and prayers are with my investment managers.'

Ms Hathaway's cynical comments follow statements from Christian Bale, who plays Batman, in which he said he was 'quite entertained' by rushes of the shootings, but he'd have to see the final edit first and from the movie's British director Christopher Nolan, who labelled the gunman's actions 'nowhere near as unbearably savage as what goes on in the film, and just as good for the box office as Heath Ledger overdosing while we were finishing off The Dark Knight'.

As survivors, families of the victims and the community in Aurora, Colorado, battle to come to terms with the heinous crime, which saw suspect James Holmes open fire in a midnight screening of the final movie in the Batman trilogy, killing 12 people and injuring 58, Warner Bros chose not to release weekend box office figures for the film in case those affected started a class action law suit.

'Out of respect for our shareholders and their families, Warner Bros. Pictures will not be reporting box office numbers for The Dark Knight Rises throughout the weekend. Box office numbers will be released on Monday when we've managed to stop grinning.' read a statement.

"You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

Nobody knows what the answer to The Joker's question should have been.

But maybe somebody can crack this riddle: Did fox chew through my van’s brake pipe?

The Dark Knight

This film is full of the time-honoured Moral Dilemmas, resolved on several occasions with the Immortal Line "There is Good And Bad in All Of Us. Follow Your Heart (cont. page 94)". And of course The Baddie tells Batman "Y'know, were not so different, you and me".

Morgan Freeman plays a rogue-ish but lovable sidekick (reprising his rôle in Robin Hood) and Heath Ledger plays a younger and more manic version of Hannibal Lecter. Michael Caine reprises Sir John Gielgud's rôle as The English Butler in Arthur or possibly Parker in Thunderbirds. Batman appears to be played by Damon Hill's even more likeable younger brother. The Love Interest over whom Batman and the suave DA do battle appears to be played by an aged Carrie Fisher after plastic surgery gone wrong.

All in all, yawn.
