This shut down does have its upsides...

Tesco Edmonton, a couple of days ago. It might have gone up or down since then:

Surprisingly, the petrol stations in my area, which are always about 10p/litre more expensive than Tesco are holding out, and are still asking for about 120p/litre.

Cheap petrol but not allowed to drive (here in Cyprus)...

...it is like being stuck in an Alanis Morissette song.

Tesco Edmonton? Always takes ages to find what I'm looking. My most frustrating supermarket experience in North London. Why not walk to your excellent Waitrose? One of my favourites.

B, harsh. I live in fear that they'll ban recreational driving here.

BJ,

a. why walk when I could drive?

b. Edmonton Tesco is great!

c. The worst Tesco near me is the one in Ponders End. It is fucking horrible.

Diesel at our local Asda, a couple of days ago, had dropped from a pre-chaos 1.24 to 1.08. Bloody typical, given that we've done about 30 miles in the past fortnight! Thankfully diesel doesn't go off like petrol, it just sits there waiting for the great day.

Also, heating oil (I live in the sticks). I have to admit I am addicted to Shell V Power, diesel and petrol. But that's down in price as well. And they do 'carbon neutral' stuff as part of the deal - supposedly. Not that I care about or believe in that...

DCB, how quickly does petrol go off? I thought it took months or years.

L. stock up on heating oil!

MW. Petrol goes off surprisingly quickly. We never keep race fuel over winter - race fuel being Shell V Power to which we add an octane booster / lead type additive. And that's in a sealed jerry can. In a vented petrol tank it will degrade. What's more, as it does so it leaves a shellac like deposit in all the wrong places. Carb jets. Fuel injection systems etc. And modern fuels are corrosive. I always run dry my chainsaw and strimmer.
