Is this just a UK thing, or do rags in other countries report stories in a similar fashion?

I wonder if ancient Rome had the equivalent of the DM?

BJ, other newspapers do it to some extent, but the Mail takes it to extremes, the Mail is not typical of the UK media as a whole.

But perhaps there's one paper in every country that's like the Mail? I don't know.
