Asks Ralph, and submits this this splendid article to get the ball rolling:
A Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo in his yard and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face, the county sheriff said Friday... The animal's hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man's jaw, he said.
They couldn't find the animal afterwards, so I suppose it's possible that he missed all three times and the bullet which hit him had actually richoted off some other hard surface, but hey, that's not such a heart warming tale.

"not a heart warming tale" Its a shaggy dog armadillo story, that what it is.
I'm pretty sure it must have been a ricochet off something else - a .38 should penetrate an Armadillo's carapace easily enough.
Knirirr,
You display a shocking lack of biological detail. In Texas they have two Arma-dilo sub species. One is a Chombam-dilo. That one would definitely stop a .38 round. The second is the Reactive-dilo. These are much less common, and have evolved themselves into something of an evolutionary dead end. But if he had shot one, the little critter would have certainly taken the red-neck with him.
Din and K, my thoughts exactly.
Mike, you just made those two up, didn't you?
Mark,
:)
If only species could 'bolt on' or 'up-armour' in just decades to meet their threats - much fairer playing field. Still the robots will!
'They couldn't find the animal afterwards'
Yep, 'cloaking technology'.
