Crikey! Alaistair Heath Talks Sense Shock

Here

I quote:-

The solution is a fourth approach, a toughened-up version of the British way. We should be proud to be the country of Sir Mo Farah, Sajid Javid and Sadiq Khan, a nation so at ease with itself that we encourage Muslim state schools. We should continue to embrace refugees fleeing persecution, and pursue a controlled, yet liberal, migration policy.

But we should terminate the old politically correct, cowardly attitude that allowed scandals such as Rochdale, do a lot more to root out extremism, extend economic and educational opportunities, encourage interfaith engagement, recruit more Muslims into the Armed Forces and combat ghetto-isation.

Our mission is to show the world how to host a thriving, prosperous, integrated Muslim minority which can fully buy into core British values while practising its faith. Realism and hard, patient work, not digital hysteria, are the only ways to defeat the demagogues.

Well, I think it's sense. Do you?

It sounds nice but he is being very naive.

Oh I don't mind naïve. And if my North London Grammar School in the 60's was anything to go by, he's about right.

Apart from the Muslim state schools bit, because I'm against ALL state funded 'faith' Schools, it seems OK to me.

L, it's not like when you or I were kids. As the number of Pakistanis etc has grown, they have become less and less integrated. They are now in sufficient numbers concentrated in certain areas to be able to live in a parallel society.

S, state funded 'faith' schools does seem like an anachronism, but Church of England is the national, state religion. Islam is completely at odds with western/democratic values, sod that. Also, Catholic schools are just really nice in my experience, even though I'm an atheist, for one reason or another three of my kids have been to them and they really liked it.

@MW

They may be 'nice' but that is not the point. We should disestablish the CofE and all state funded education should a-political and secular.

Anything else, the parents can pay for and/or provide themselves.

re your Daily Mail style anti-immigrant rhetoric: they don't integrate: they live in ghettos (almost like the British upper class).

I actually know an illegal immigrant (she claims to be legit!).She says the attractions of coming to England were 1) her medical expenses are paid by the state 2)she could become rich by buying a house and profiting from state sponsored house price inflation.(OK I have sharpened up the language somewhat.)
In other words, the Daily Mail conspiracy that has taken over the Conservative Party :to rack up house prices and bash foreigners (such lofty aims) is fucked by its own contradictions. They are doing their best to advertise the UK as a soft touch for its lack of land value uplift taxes.

FWIW In my North London Grammar School class (about 22/25 students) there were (from memory) three Jews, one Black British, one Irish, one Indian (Sub continent - not North America), one Pakistani, and a Greek Cypriot.

And one of my classmates was an absolute racist bastard. The rest of us got along just fine.

DBCR- you mean doing their best to encourage overseas "investment" ;)

Your story is amazing- doesn't your friend worry that buying a house in the first place might be hard?

On the faith based schools thing- private schools coupled with vouchers for all those entitled should resolve it no? While I don't like the idea of, for example, children being indoctrinated in the Koran particularly, I do support the right of parents to choose how to raise their children- and I also believe people can expunge VS from their heads whatever their parents want. A free society tends to encourage more people approaching topics critically, and not simply holding on to the dogma handed down to them.

"they live in ghettos (almost like the British upper class)."

The English have the least inter-class integration in Europe, so what does it matter if we have another lot who tend to stick together and speak different language. In any case, all foreigners tend to do this, it's not particular to Muslims. We do it when we live abroad. Check out the English in Portugal: been there for centuries, still more English than the English.

Agreed with the point about not having Faith schools of any kind paid for by the state, but otherwise Allister's spot on.

Mark, if you don't like living near Muslims, why not move to Wales? You can go for weeks without seeing anyone who even might be one here.

B "mark, if you don't like living near Muslims..."

When did I ever say such a thing?

DBCR "Daily Mail conspiracy that has taken over the Conservative Party" I think you'll find it's taken over every party (bar one, of course). That largely what you and I agree on. :-)

I can't understand how a paper with an evil fascist reputation from the 30's, can get into conflict with the elected Prime Minister Cameron over the paper telling lies about immigrants in the 2016 Referendum and come out on top with the PM getting the shove. Whereupon, without any policy revision and general election, the party under a new unelected leader proclaims with no legitimate mandate that it now kowtows to the D Mail victimise immigrants line and then goes through the lobbies to support the Leave campaign having fought the referendum definitively on the Remain ticket.
There is constitutional impropriety here in spades and the Tory aka Fraudy Party should be taken to court.
Ditto the conversion of a tax on property value uplift (schedule A)into property value dividends for homeowners = malfeasance.
We are wasting out time with political process: these fuckers should go to through a judicial process.

"the party under a new unelected leader"

She was elected in exactly the same way as every other Tory leader since, was it Asquith who was the last leader from the Lords? first by her constituents and then by the party to be leader.

Lola said...

DBCR. In the UK the rules say the MP that becomes PM is the one who can command a majority in Parliament. In this case that was T May. She is entirely legitimate.

Mark Wadsworth said...

DBC is going round the silliness clock again, since I've been interested in politics (i.e. since I was about six), we've had several "unelected" PMs. Callaghan, Major, Brown, May. That's the way it works. What's the problem?

DBC Reed said...

@MW
The Fraudy party goes into the referendum on a strident Remain ticket, encounters lies from the Mail directed at legal well-organised migrant labour from Catholic / former Communist North Western Europe which the Mail illustrates with pictures of Middle Eastern refugees fleeing for their lives into South East Europe as did the leader of the UKIP extra-parliamentary mob that you used to formally support .Losing the Referendum to lies and backstabbing the leader of the Fraudies is bound by the Remain mandate set out by the innocent Etonian Cameron there being no subsequent conference or general election. On a practical level, she should also avenge the knifing given to her former leader by the Mail.
Instead she goes over to the Mail's anti Western European migrant side and using dictatorial powers fucks up the country's trading arrangements so the conspirators are happy with all the CONTROL they have.
You appear to consider this constitutionally proper: you are wasting everybody's time.
NB the grand malfeasance whereby the Tories converted a property value uplift tax into national dividends to homeowners in 1963 remains and should be the object of our activities rather than playing witless games to no effect.

@DBCR You're sounding like a student union polemic again. And FWIW he labour party are the biggest liars of the lot.

Like that student polemicist Sir Ken Clarke who accused his Conservative Party of having become anti-immigrant in a way which would have amazed Enoch Powell who failed to get the Tories to go anti-immigrant in his day.
Your detailed exposition of the lies, all carefully itemised and proved of the Labour Party is amazing (by its absence).
One difference: the Labour Party is not in power; it is the Conservative Party that is succumbing to fascist influence and making a disgrace of this country.

KC is just another resentful remainer with a flawed understanding of the verities. He's a juvenile.

The Labour party is socialist. Socialism is an inherent lie, or perhaps more accurately a systematic deceit visited on the people for the purpose of securing power for its apostles. Ipso fatso the LP lies.

It's irrelevant whether the LP is in power (God forbid) or not.

DBC Reed said...

Ken Clarke is a juvenile and anti-immigrant prejudice is an ancient verity of the Conservative Party !!!!!!!
