They own land! Give them money!

From The Daily Mash:

NORTHERN pop stars are recording a benefit single for Londoners facing rising rents.

The musicians, including Liam Gallagher, Sting and Mark E Smith, have come together to raise public awareness of the humanitarian crisis being suffered by people in the capital still house-sharing in their mid-thirties [etc etc].

These three are on the street and destitute, yes? Like Brand.

The Fall (which is basically Mark E Smith + some other people) once did a song called Leave the Capitol which is about how much MES hated London (you should all check it out, and all their early to mid 80s stuff which is great).

He also did a Graun interview where he said
"I'm not sure the economic situation is as bad as they make out. What is the problem with house prices falling? I know plenty of kids who can't afford a house.

Manchester is more expensive than Los Angeles in my experience, but London is ridiculous. I don't know where London gets its economic ideas from."

JH, it's the Daily Mash - it's a spoof.

TS, I never got into The Fall, apart from 'Elastic Man'.

Mark,

That's from my favourite era - around '81-86. There's been the odd great thing since (like Theme from Sparta FC) but the last few albums feel a bit phoned in.

My missus and kids hate it, though ;)
