Pot. Kettle

Here

As far as I am aware this bloke has done nothing in actual production ever.   And now he is paid by me and you to be an 'opposition', yet organises his inheritance like this, which is all fine and legal but might just make him no different to the people he opposes.

And being paid by you me, that is real taxpayers in wealth creating private business, means that he cannot actually pay any tax, as in make any net contribution to the national treasury.

Hypocrite doesn't just cut it somehow.

The "professional politician", i.e. one who has never had a career outside politics, is a threat highlighted on Radio 4 today. How many of those standing for election next May won't have a clue what goes on in the real world, because they've never had to make a living in it. It's worse than the C19th. At least the politicians then, even if they were largely drawn from the gentry, at least then had some experience of managing a landed estate in what was still a largely agrarian economy.

Only stupid people pay IHT don't they?

I'd be more worried that a future PM didn't organise his affairs to avoid it.

Tony Benn was a bit of a shocker though.

BJ. Yes, of course. But overall that's just what Boots Boss is doing - organising his affairs and those of his business to pay the minimum tax.

If we didn't have Home-Owner-Ism he wouldn't need to worry about Inheritance Tax, as his house would be 'worth' £100,000 rather than £1.5 million.

But give a man a £1.5 million home and he'll probably turn Home-Owner-Ist overnight.

What politicians say people should do is increasingly what other people should do. They don't think it applies to them, as they are different.

It's worrying. It would be better if they knew they were being hypocrites and just didn't care, but I don't think that's the case.

If Labour just did the sensible thing and went with a revamp of council tax, he could say, look, I live in a VERY nice house and my bill is going up by £1000, whereas 2/3 of people will be paying less. And Primrose Hill will no longer be getting central government funding - the good people here can take care of their own local services without passing the hat round in Scunthorpe.

@M. Well, you know what they put in Scunthorpe don't you? Is that Miliband's seat? It would be appropriate if it were.

THe Boots' boss should not associate his company with his boring political statements: there is no way he has some kind of political mandate from the shareholders , workers and other stakeholders who give him his living but not the right to appear to speak for them by borrowing the identity of a large undertaking.A timely reminder that the class war rumbles on ; as usual with the rich as provocateurs.
