The Stigler spells this the old-fashioned way, like I used to do, with a silent "n" (see previous post).
This spelling has been proven to be and always have been wrong. It's with "mm".
Having ruled out all other plausible explanations, the website concludes that the only possible explanation (no matter how implausible) for so many people (me included) clearly remembering a time when "mn" was the correct spelling is that we have crossed over from a parallel universe.

I never even noticed it.
Which, come to think of it, is probably the explanation. You spell it wrong once, and nobody corrects it because "mm" and "mn" look almost the same so they don't notice it. So you carry on doing it for years and only find out when an electronic spell checker highlights it for you.
RT, never noticed what?
Are you an "mn" man or a "mm" man?
Did you never notice that some people spelled it "mn" or that nearly everybody else spells it "mm"?
I am an "mm" man but I didn't notice that Stigler had misspelled it I mean.
That's the first I've heard of it.
