Songs about long road trips usually end in California

Chuck Berry: Promised land
Start: Left my home in Norfolk, Virginia...
End: Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia... Tell the folks back home this is the promised land callin'

Nat King Cole: Route 66
Start/end: It winds from Chicago to LA

Roger Miller: Me and Bobby McGee
Start/end: From the coal mines of Kentucky to the California sun

Lobo: Me and you and a dog named Boo
Start: I remember to this day the bright red Georgia clay
End: I'll never forget the day, we motored stately into big LA

Nice one.

Slightly OT: with the modern US road system, "only 24 hours from Tulsa" makes no sense. Almost everywhere in the US is 24 Hours from Tulsa by car.

"Me and Bobby McGee" was very much Kris Kristofferson's song. The story is that a Bobby McKee was Boudleaux Bryant's secretary and the head of Monument Records told KK it was a good name to put in a song.
Don't say you don't know who the Bryants were(as I get older this lack of common cultural reference points is becoming really troublesome).

TS, Google maps says it's 29 hours from Seattle to Tulsa, but point taken.

DBC, yes, KK wrote it but it was first performed by somebody else.

And no, I'm afraid that without Googling, I have no idea who the Bryants are? Did they form a band with Queen's lead guitarist and branch out into making matches?

@ MW
You jest! Don't you? Felice and Boudleaux Bryant composers of "Bye Bye Love" and a string of Everly Brothers hits,"Rainin' in my Heart", "Love Hurts".??!??!
As I feared : the end of civilisation as we know it.

DBC, aha, they wrote "Bye bye love", awesome song, it's like heavy metal with acoustic guitars.

MW Oddest description of "Bye bye love" I've ever heard.Obviously you did n't clock the re-run this weekend of the Everly Bros "Arena" documentary which analysed the local thumb-picking blues guitar style.Don then demonstrated to Chet Atkins that their acoustic guitar intro to BBL was instead, in the style of Bo Diddley.
