"Dog walker seriously ill in hospital after being trampled by herd of cows"

From The Daily Mail:

A man has been hospitalised after being trampled by a herd of cows while he was out walking his dog in the countryside.

Emergency services were called to a field in St Neots, Cambridgeshire last night and rushed the man to hospital.

The patient, said to be in his 60s, was badly injured in the accident and required specialist treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Apparently he ignored the "beware of the bull" sign too.

IH, the sign wasn't quite clear enough, was it?

Those "beware of the bull" signs are a little misleading. It probably lulls people into thinking a herd of heifers is fine.

The law regarding bulls is "It is an offence to allow a bull over 10 months old and on its own to be at large in a field crossed by a public right of way. It is also an offence to keep a bull of a recognised dairy breed (even if accompanied by cows/heifers) on land crossed by a public right of way."

I wonder what makes diary bulls more dangerous? I'd have thought with all the steroids they pump into them, the beef variety would be more aggressive.
