Anna (well we suspect it is probably Anna) turns her attention to the perils of "elevenses"

We were informed not long ago of Anna's views on Coffee shops and the parents who let their offspring patronise them but it has obviously dawned on Anna, with perhaps a little prodding from a Dr Susan Jebb at the Medical Research Council, that not everyone uses Coffee shops and that some people opt for the "at home or at the desk experience" of a cup of tea or coffee and perhaps a biscuit. At just about any time of day.

Which is of course yet another example of "to be severely frowned upon behaviour aka 'snacking'" and action is being taken to address the dangers inherent in such behaviour, thank goodness.

I heard recently that it was proved in the 1950s that it wasn't fat that made you fat, but sugar, but Big Sugar sprang to sugar's defence and made sure the message got out that fat, not sugar was the evil substance. Mind you, biscuits have both in them.

Bayard,

It's your microbiome (tummy bacteria) that make you fat (via inflammation).

It's probably anti-biotics messing up those bacteria that have caused the increase in obesity (as well as quite a few auto-immune diseases such as type 2 diabetes and asthma).

SB, point taken. I shall try to remember to believe only half of what I read (but which half?) and nothing of what I hear.
