Doing a bit of idle web surfing whilst on hols I came across this lass, at Mises.org. Luckily as I am old enough to be her grandad, I am not stricken by lust, but I am moved to tears by her passion. It seems there is hope in the younger generation.

Smitten by lust? [Smiles]
Hang about Mark you do realise that she supports Ron Paul (a crank) and Austrian Economics (anti LVT nonsense) right?
Now I didn't watch all her videos but I'd like to know just what about her is inspiring and shows hope in the younger generation. As a younger person myself I'd fear a world where her views are mainstream.
Chr, this was Lola's post, not mine.
Chrometum
RP is not a crank.
And I haven't noticed anti LVT generally amongst Austrians, although I know that Rothbard was agin it. But there again he was an anarcho-libertarian.
Lola: I suspect you're in the minority of Austrian supporters of LVT, but I could be wrong. The fellows at Mises Institute have some great analysis from a lot of perspectives (and I'm personally a great fan of W.Block even though his views are miles from mine). Sure, they ignore some bits and could use a touch of pragmatism, but FWIW RP and his lot has a lot to offer US politics, and will hopefully contribute some corrective to the current mess. It could be worse, they could be Ayn Rand folks!
Of course it's Lola's, Mark - you wouldn't be overcome by lust. :)
Sorry Mark
@Lola & Kj
Ron Paul is a crank. I mean he says the civil rights act was wrong as it violates property rights (amongst other things), he's in favour of a complete roll back on regulation, is anti universal healthcare, hates government mandated vaccines for children and so much more. Ron Paul maybe right on a few things but he is wrong on so much more.
If you don't think Austrians are anti LVT then go on the Ron Paul forums and look at their long LVT threads (200 pages each).

They hate it because it would violate their sacred property rights.
Mark was on a blog the other week where a load of them were arguing against LVT proclaiming all sorts of nonsense and saying that Rothbard had debunked it etc.

Maybe I'm confusing Anarcho-capitalism and Austrian Economics. But from my dealings with the people that say they are, they seem one in the same.

I have no doubt that Mises and many 'austrians' have not yet quite grasped the difference between LVT and other taxes. But, if nothing else austrianism is by definition as adaptable as the human action it analyses and defines.
Ron Paul's holy grail is Liberty, and he's right for that alone. Denying ones property rights is an invasion of that liberty.
I think also that land has an even bigger hold on the US psyche than it does for the average Brit. It's a nation built by immigrants whose historic experiences are fundamentally the destruction of property rights, and Liberty.
Overall I do not think that LVT is at all incompatible with austrianism. In fact I think it is probably the only tax that IS so compatible, because ultimately it is a selectable tax. Combine it with a Citizens Dividend and you deal with the curse of rent seeking.
And I like Ron Paul because almost uniquely he is a politician with clear principles.
Turning to Ms BillyRock, I really am beyond lust - she reminds me of the enthusiasm of my own four daughters which are all around her age. You have to admit her enthusiasm is delightful. And you can just see how she is developing. There is nothing as rewarding as watching children develop.
>avour of a complete roll back on regulation, is anti universal healthcare
You pick the two un-crankiest things to damn him with.
<=Marxist Party that way.
Lola
I personally can't fathom why someone would pigeon hole themselves with an ism when it's quite clear that most have their merits.
"Ron Paul's holy grail is Liberty, and he's right for that alone. Denying ones property rights is an invasion of that liberty."
I don't see how property rights trumping the right to not be discriminated against creates liberty, it clearly destroys it. Ron Paul's holy grail is a near free-for-all not "liberty". The belief that a near free-for-all creates the most "liberty" or a better society for the most people is the basic problem with his stance.
"Overall I do not think that LVT is at all incompatible with austrianism. In fact I think it is probably the only tax that IS so compatible, because ultimately it is a selectable tax. Combine it with a Citizens Dividend and you deal with the curse of rent seeking."
Firstly do they even believe in rent seeking? Secondly is LVT really a tax? Thirdly maybe you should join the Ron Paul forums and try and convince them
"And I like Ron Paul because almost uniquely he is a politician with clear principles."
You make like that's a good thing. Having clear principles is only good if those principles are inherently good. Ron Paul's principles are wolves in sheep's clothing.
"Turning to Ms BillyRock, I really am beyond lust - she reminds me of the enthusiasm of my own four daughters which are all around her age. You have to admit her enthusiasm is delightful. And you can just see how she is developing. There is nothing as rewarding as watching children develop."
I don't see enthusiasm, she comes across rather disconcerting. Her Cheshire cat like grin and bug eyes make her seem deranged for me (like a crazy hot woman). She comes off as rather smug and full of herself. In one of her videos her defence of Ron Paul's racism by saying (amongst other things) that libertarianism is incompatible with racism because it is without actually giving reasons sums up how vacuous her arguments are. I think you're blinded by the fact you agree with her and that she's hot, if you didn't I think you'd see what I'm seeing.
@Sarton Bander
1. Since when is universal healthcare only compatible with marxism?? I would've thought removing healthcare worries from citizens would create more freedom not less, especially with LVT being what finances it...
2. So you don't think their should be any regulations? You don't think they serve any merit?
3. I damned him with more than what you chose to highlight...
