He's been training the England youth team for quite a few years, knows a lot of these players well.

The Beckham situation showed the character of the man. Other managers would have picked Beckham just to shut the press up, despite the fact that Beckham isn't up to the job.

The GB women's team are good too. They're on fire - they took Cameroon apart and Brazil wasn't too tricky.

Aha, that all makes sense now. I was amazed that he apparently managed to knock the team into shape within a couple of months, i.e. stick to some sort of formation so that the players at the fron always know where the others are, which is what Spain do. Boring to watch, but it gets the goals in.
