Fun Online Polls: Julian Assange and midges

The responses to last week's Fun Online Poll were as follows:

What would you do with Julian Assange?

Allow him to go to Ecuador - 48%

Leave him to sweat in the Ecuadorian Embassy - 27%
Extradite him to Sweden - 11%
Cut out the middleman and hand him over to the Yanks - 7%
Other, please specify - 6%

Good, that's that settled then and I'm with the majority on this one. The turnout was very high at 170 votes, thanks to everybody who responded.

I've noticed a couple of articles saying that there are more midges this summer because of the particularly warm, wet weather.

This week's Fun Online Poll - have you noticed more midges than usual?

Have not seen any midges but been bitten a a lot by mosquitoes but then currently I am in Canada. Also there is a raccoon living in the recycle bin and in the garden are squirrels, a chipmunk and it was visited the other day by a bird that looked remarkably like Woody Wood Pecker.

Anti, how does the mosquito count compare to last year in Canada?

The more northerly parts of Canada do have midges but they call them no-see-ems. Which is probably why Antisthenes hasn't seen them.

Also Canada is a big country and the prevalence of mosquitoes varies from one part of it to another. In Calgary, the count is well below average this year. It might be different where Antisthenes is.

I've noticed the particularly wet weather but not much particularly warm weather. That said, the insect count seems higher - lots of flies, gnats and bees but, thankfully, very few wasps
