MA, I bumped you out of welfare reform but my original defence minister never turned up for work and you seem like a peace loving bloke, therefore ideal for defence minister.

Thanks for giving me the top job. I can truly say it was unexpected, but I feel the corrupting influence of power already. When do I get to go head-to-head with Dave C?

B: "When do I get to go head-to-head with Dave C?"

a) If he's lucky, he'll be asking you the questions.

b) Failing that, you could always nick his bicycle.

His cycling to work is the only thing I can admire about Dave C. However, my model as PM will be Clem Attlee in that he a) traveled to work on the bus and b) didn't care in the slightest about either public opinion or his image. After all who needs public opinion when you have a majority in the House? My manual for the job will be the entire series of "Yes, Minister", in particular rememebreing such truths as the real opposition is the Civil Service.
My first action will be to hold a referendum on whether the i) UK should remain in the EU and ii) if we leave, do we remain in EFTA and Schengen or leave altogether? If the country votes to stay, I will concentrate on getting the maximum number of public sector jobs funded by the EU, whilst cutting our contributions to a minimum.
