More Volcano Fun

From The Metro:

So Iceland goes bankrupt and then manages to set the island on fire. It's got 'insurance scam' written all over it. Jenni, London SW2.

If one more person [tells] me a volcano joke, I'm going to erupt. Niall Finn, Sheffield.

And, last but not least...

Andrew Wilkinson takes issue with people who moan about the noise of aircraft flying over their houses, saying they had a choice when they moved there (Metro, Wed). I agree but when I moved I didn't imagine the volume of aircraft would increase so hugely.

Also, I can't sympathise with those stranded people who used a form of transport that many believe will lead to more frequent volcanic eruptions.

Are the putting something in the water? This 'volcano activity caused by global warming' meme is spreading!

JM, it started off with "Rape of Gaia by greedy US corporations caused earthquake in Haiti", as far as I am aware.

What is it with the use of language? Possibly even stranger than the increase in volcanic activity caused by flying, is the revelation that the volume of aircraft is increasing.

Is it so they can seat more passengers? Do they have special glues and technologies to allow it to happen? Is it because of expansion due to frictional heat or gormal worbling? Or maybe the result of heat from the volcanoes themselves?

I'd be scared if it were the latter. It might set up a destructive feedback where the enlarged aircraft set off more volcanoes, so heating the aircraft and causing their volumes to increase even more, causing volcanoes to erupt........

We're doomed. Man the lifeboats.

Obviously, the only form of transport that will lead to more frequent volcanic eruptions is the pogo stick.

Yes, the Edward II approach would be overkill.

Makes a change its the airline's fault.
When that weedy earth tremor knocked over a few pieces of patio furniture a woman being interviewed on the radio said, "My bed really shook. It felt as if the cat had jumped up.."

When asked further she revealed her thoughts.
"My neighbour..he thinks it might be terrorists."

"Terrorists?" said interviewer.

"Yes. I though maybe Al-Qaeda had tunnelled down and let off a bomb."

"Why would they do that?"

"Exactly. Why would anyone. They're so strange aren't they.."
