Why doesn't she just switch to heroin?

From The Metro:

A 15-year-old girl who weighs 33 stone [said] "It's like a drug. Some people choose heroin but I've chosen food and it's killing me."

Anyway, if a 33-stone person lives for 20 years, isn't that the same total amount of life lived as a 10-stone person who lives for 66 years?

I reckon you've hit on a great health-care metric there, Mark

the * stone-year *

the NHS could ration care to the first, say, 1,000 stone-years of your life

this allows a person of average weight 12.5 stone, 80 years of care

or a little over 90 years for an 11-stoner

what do you think ?

Brilliant! As a further embellishment and given the government-issued ration of 1,000 stone-years, a market in stone-years could be created. Accordingly, in order to reduce one's stone-year footprint, citizens of, for instance, Darfur could get cash for selling surplus stone-years to those in the corpulent West who require it. It could become another branch of the "sustainability" or "global warming" industries.

Biomess are a global leader in offering "Car-Bun trading credits" to corporations that operate in the fast food, ready meal, snack or sugar industry.

We can offset your fat inducing products by trading in stonne years.
The average Africans Car-Bun flat footprint is just 1/4 of a Germans.
See or website for details.

Nice to see she's argued away her self-control, "I'm addicted," she wails. No need for self-restraint in the face of a medical condition.

Wait a fucking minute! I must be addicted too. Barely a day goes by that I don't eat food and when I'm without it, I start to think about it and imagine myself eating it. If I go without it for any extended period, my body is hit with aching pangs, that which I can only assume are the symptoms of withdrawal.

How have I managed to stay relatively slender in the face of such compulsion? Oh, that's right, I chose to.

ND, nice idea, needs work.

U, we have that, it's called "wiring money to third world dictators' Swiss bank accounts". And netting it off with subsidies to arms exporters.

PB, I hope it's not a Mini! You wouldn't get many of her in a Mini, would you?

BQ, maybe we could trade 1st world Car-bun credits against 3rd world heroin/cocaine/qat credits? We eat a bit less food and take more drugs; they grow less drugs and eat more food? Or something?

PT, if you followed the Fat Lass's sage advice and shot up between meals, you wouldn't get these pangs, just a terrible itch, and, according to Dearieme, terrible constipation.

It all reminds me of my idea for a future fascist health state whereby your rate of income tax was your percentage body fat. 25% blubber? 25% of your income please.
