Yes of course, this is a big strategic goal for any US politician, why do you think George Bush decided to invade Tie-Rack.
Perhaps you should run a poll Mark. Who does Obama remind you of most:
JFK (with a tan)
or
Neil Kinnock (circa 1992)
I happen to have seen/heard the speech live (on BBC News 24 - everything else was pre-empted). "Vacuous" is the most complimentary thing you can say about it - and the mugs (the Berliners and the BBC commenters) lapped it up.
Matt Frei on BBC1 10::00 News last night was - I swear it - having an orgasm about the wonder of Obama and the enthusiasm of the Berlin crowd. However, even the BBC - reporting from small-town white working-class America, reported the tragic news (to the BBC correspondent) that Obama's reception among the electorate which is actually going to vote may not be so enthusiastic.
