It's a shared service that helps tourists which means that all the hotel, restaurant and attraction owners have happy tourists who tell their friends how great it is and come back again. And the cost is tiny.

But in a place like Swindon, it makes no sense at all. People come to Swindon to get some internet routers customised, not for the architecture.Tim Almondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369256383976094670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-46270864739684925842013-11-02T12:23:00.315+00:002013-11-02T12:23:00.315+00:00Bayard,

It's quite cheap for hotel rooms, and places like Stratford and Warwick are easy to get to.Tim Almondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369256383976094670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-81235591611194528762013-11-02T10:42:36.348+00:002013-11-02T10:42:36.348+00:00"but as a rule, the good places get visitors...."but as a rule, the good places get visitors."

The further north you go, the less this holds true, until you start again in Edinburgh perhaps, probably because most tourists fly into London. Durham is a case in point.

BTW wasn't that article next to one saying how the Concorde de nos jours, HS2, is going to make a huge profit on the public money invested?Bayardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15211150959757982948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-63175651262161596402013-11-01T23:21:47.955+00:002013-11-01T23:21:47.955+00:00Bugger tax-supported tourist offices, they just di...Bugger tax-supported tourist offices, they just distort the market. We didn't need them in the 19th century when tourism began to flourish.Ian Hillshttp://britain-today.blogspot.co.uknoreply@blogger.com
