Rents would...LVT and CI would not cap rents at all. Rents would continue to rise as the country got richer. Rent caps give lucky existing tenants a (sometimes massive) "discount" on rent- in the same way that not charging LVT gives owner-occupiers a massive "discount". Personally, I think LVT would increase the quality of rented accommodation, as landlords (maybe renamed as something less feudal) would have to compete on the improvements part of the propert rent, as the rest would be collected as LVT- hence anyone who can most efficiently operate a rental business will make the most money, and if no-one likes the service, they go bust like any normal business!ThomasBHallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08998362261169422976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-50281037235261571242015-05-01T11:23:17.940+01:002015-05-01T11:23:17.940+01:00M. So, question. Would LVT/CI work as well as a rent cap to cap rents? (On the assumption that collecting LVT/Paying CI would not encourage bureaucrats as it is not a rule).Lolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04586735342675041312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-20241096030622852102015-05-01T10:39:22.257+01:002015-05-01T10:39:22.257+01:00Not sure if rented accommodation under reinstated ...Not sure if rented accommodation under reinstated rent controls could possibly be of worse quality than some of the crap out there today...mombershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09650866436764567516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-88348756745663398562015-05-01T07:35:12.144+01:002015-05-01T07:35:12.144+01:00"having a property owning democracy."
