This means that two kids going to different schools in the same area get half term at the same time.

However, it is a myth that tour operators charge double during the main holidays and half term.

They don't. That's the normal price and they charge half price outside of school holidays. :-) Mark Wadsworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07733511175178098449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-29379920050710289802013-11-02T14:53:47.401+00:002013-11-02T14:53:47.401+00:00Indeed. Lots of it in France, Germany or Italy.

My half-term tip: Disneyland Paris. Crossings are still cheap. As long as you don't go on a Saturday, the accomodation/park tickets are cheap on a combined deal. And because you're off when a lot of Europe isn't, the queues are very tolerable.

But to do it cheap, you have to do it by car. Which actually doesn't take that much longer than the train once you factor all your connections in and is much cheaper.Tim Almondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369256383976094670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-4879406455464202612013-11-01T16:59:05.190+00:002013-11-01T16:59:05.190+00:00As somebody who has taught at different levels I w...As somebody who has taught at different levels I would say: an invariant Stalinist system where the pupils are taught exactly the same things at exactly the same time in exactly the same way is the first requisite, with all notions of academic freedom for half arsed middle-class personality teachers to re-invent the wheel of the syllabus strictly suppressed. So bugger different half term dates.DBC Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17891849727783879145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-13684388749805859182013-11-01T12:12:51.529+00:002013-11-01T12:12:51.529+00:00A, perhaps we just want to differentiate ourselves...A, perhaps we just want to differentiate ourselves from the French.Bayardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15211150959757982948noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-60908049714944948952013-11-01T12:02:45.211+00:002013-11-01T12:02:45.211+00:00Sorry that should say the summer holiday.Sorry that should say the summer holiday.Antistheneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10120647617145756102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-75161328719813539652013-11-01T12:01:46.367+00:002013-11-01T12:01:46.367+00:00I rarely have anything good to say about France bu...I rarely have anything good to say about France but they do indeed stagger their half term and end of term breaks except the summer one and it works well. They have two weeks off middle and end of terms staggered in three groups of schools the summer term runs from the end of June until September.
