Like I said, women did get a poor deal in the past in terms of rights, although I'm not so sure today.

Lola,
I wouldn't mind if all my TV every night didn't seem to be aimed at women.Tim Almondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369256383976094670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-12208683376088451512014-11-09T10:43:17.041+00:002014-11-09T10:43:17.041+00:00And then there's 'woman' hour'.And then there's 'woman' hour'.Lolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04586735342675041312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-1563886994771235662014-11-09T10:24:14.045+00:002014-11-09T10:24:14.045+00:00Aha, good point.
I've always pointed out that...Aha, good point.

I've always pointed out that in some respects, women get a worse deal*, but in other respects, men get a worse deal**. If in doubt, treat everybody equally.

* i.e. mothers tend to earn less than non-mothers, which doesn't just affect them, it affects their husbands as well, assuming households pool their income. This can be sorted out mathematically by paying women sufficient child benefit to make up the gap.

** i.e. men have a later retirement age, but don't live as long. So at a minimum, the state pension age should be the same for both. You could even argue for an earlier retirement age for men. Don't get me started on divorce laws.Mark Wadsworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07733511175178098449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-5022072609374987032014-11-09T10:22:44.004+00:002014-11-09T10:22:44.004+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mark Wadsworthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07733511175178098449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1141932539860553199.post-54317978745528375012014-11-09T09:20:35.028+00:002014-11-09T09:20:35.028+00:00Apparently men are 11 times more likely than women...Apparently men are 11 times more likely than women to die in a work-related accident.
